Cassey's Introduction

My Name is Cassey Lynch. I am pursuing a single-subject credential at National University with the  hopes of teaching mathematics. Growing up, math was always my best subject. When I was in middle school I was in an advanced math class and a member of the math club, "Math Olympiads". I lost interest in math as I grew older and chose Chemistry as a major in college. It was during a physics class that I realized how much I missed math. The next semester I had changed my major to math and had finally decided that I wanted to teach math to high school students.

I took the personality test from Teamtechnology at Metarasa.com. My personality is very logical and methodical. I’m a rule follower and I always look for patterns. I think this perfectly suits my chosen content area of mathematics. In school when teachers would assign group work, I was always the leader of the group and the one who initiated getting things done. Although I’m introverted and prefer to work alone, when placed in a group taking the leadership role has always been natural to me. I think that this will be apparent with my relationship with my students. I can be very assertive and I think my students will sense that. I think that my personality will help insure my students listen and behave.

I think that my teaching and learning style will work together to improve my students’ abilities to be successful. As a learner, I am an independent worker and do well figuring things out on my own. However, I also prefer when teachers are detailed and thorough instructors. I hope that I will be the teacher I always wanted for my students. I think that I will need to encourage my students to collaborate in order to help them be successful. In addition, I will need to fight my tendency to procrastinate so my students’ work is returned to them in a timely manner, which will help them be more successful.
